PROMOTING EARLY POSITIVE PARENT CHILD INTERACTIONS

Writer's picture: OCHO OCHO

As a part of our course of action to work with and for the Latinx community in Baltimore, we have developed a plan to promote early positive parent child interactions. There is mounting evidence that positive interactions with parents in the early years of life have long term positive effects on physical and mental health outcomes and school success. We plan on introducing the TREEHOUSE (Talk Read Engage Encourage) program to the Latino community in Baltimore City to promote these types of positive interactions. The program was developed by two members of our Advisory Board in conjunction with the Maryland Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

The plan is to work with local health centers and churches in Baltimore to identify parents who may be interested in participating in the program. Feel free to reach out to us if you know of individuals who you think would be interested in participating! Help us make sure our own backyard is thriving.
