Resources for Latinx in Baltimore

Pro Bono Counseling Project

Pro Bono Counseling Project is a non-profit organization founded with the goal to connect
residents experiencing mental health issues
in Maryland’s
underserved communities with a licensed mental health professional at no cost.

For the Latino/Hispanic community, mental health and mental illness
are often stigmatized topics resulting in prolonged suffering in silence.
Unique institutional and systemic barriers currently exist that may impede access to mental health services, resulting in reduced
help-seeking behaviors.

One of Pro Bono Counseling Project’s
tools available for individuals who identify as Latino/Hispanic is the mental health WARM- Line. This telephone service offers immediate, temporary support to Maryland residents who are feeling anxious, stressed, depressed or just need someone to talk to.
Since its founding in 1991, Pro Bono Counseling Project has helped more than 30,000 individuals. Mental health professionals are available to help with a variety of mental health needs.

"In a time of crisis, solidarity grows between Black and Latino activists in Baltimore."

— By Stephanie García

Follow the link to read about how activists in "Baltimore’s Black and Latino communities have increasingly been working together to fight for a range of social justice issues, " an important issue covered by Stephanie García in the Baltimore Sun. In a time of crises like a pandemic, racial inequality, and constant discrimination, unity amongst Black and Latino activists shows the importance in continuing to break down barriers to fight for collective safety and liberation -- rights everyone is entitled to.
